Alphabet Box Stick Match
Kids match uppercase letters on colorful popsicle sticks to their lowercase counterparts written on a cardboard box. It's a hands-on alphabet activity that builds letter recognition through satisfying stick-in-hole play.
🧒 Ages 3-5, 6-8⏱ 20 min
How to do it
- 1
Write all 26 lowercase letters across the top of a cardboard box lid, spacing them evenly, and cut a small slit beneath each letter.
- 2
Paint or color popsicle sticks in groups (e.g., red, green, yellow, blue) and write a matching uppercase letter on each stick.
- 3
Mix up the sticks and invite the child to find the matching lowercase letter on the box and insert the stick into the correct slot.
Tips & extensions
Color-code the sticks in groups (A-E red, F-J orange, etc.) to give younger children an extra visual clue while still practicing letter recognition.
