How to do it

  1. 1

Pre-draw or trace a large circle on white paper to act as a guide for the hedgehog body outline.

  2. 2

Squeeze several colors of paint onto a piece of cardboard as a palette.

  3. 3

Dip the fork tines into paint and drag/stamp short strokes all around the circle to create the hedgehog's spines, repeating with different colors until the body is full.

  4. 4

While the paint dries, cut an oval face shape from tan/yellow cardstock and draw on eyes, a nose, and little feet with a black marker.

  5. 5

Once the painted body is dry, glue the face and feet cutouts onto the painting to complete the hedgehog.

Tips & extensions

Pre-cut the hedgehog face before the activity so young toddlers can focus on the fun fork-painting step without waiting.
